Spring-Summer Womens Louis Vuitton Ad Campaign

Categories:Louis Vuitton

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign1If there’s an award for most print ads launched in single season, the winner would be Louis Vuitton, with Nicolas Ghesquière calling upon not 1, not 2 but 3 of his photographer friends (Annie Leibovitz, Juergen Teller and Bruce Weber) to return withSeries 2, with each of the photographers interpreting the collection in a different locale.

Annie Leibovitz, for example, photographed Freja Beha in New York City. Juergen Teller worked with 4 different models and used a Parisian townhouse as the backdrop. And of course, there’s Bruce Weber who shot actress Jennifer Connelly in Miami for his contribution to the campaign.

Then there are the other stars of the campaign which you’ll see in almost every image, hanging from the model’s hands, being cradled or just sitting quietly by themselves. Yes, I’m talking about the bags from the S/S15 collection, most of which I had the pleasure of meeting when I was up in Bangkok for the press preview last month. And because it would be too long a post if I were to devote a full review to each piece, here’s a quick rundown first of what’s coming up for the season, with dedicated posts later for those of you keen on specific styles.

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign2Left: Still not exactly sure what that is since I didn’t see this bag during the preview. Armoured breast plate? Xena’s shield? Only time will tell. Right: The Malletage Twist comes in quilted leather with a long shoulder chain that can be worn long or short. In other words, an alternative to everyone’s favourite bag from Chanel.

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign3Left: Another variation of the Twist but with more streamlined (read: less puffy) sides. This one comes in exotic croc (read: will cost you an arm and 2 legs). Want a more affordable option? Have, but more on that later. Right: Meet the Dora Souple in coated canvas, not in brown and beige, but in the new colour combination of black and red. Divine, no?

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign4Left: The Dora Souple (again) but in Monogram Canvas that’s trimmed with white leather. Another beauty. Right: Remember the more affordable of the Twist I was talking about earlier? Here it is in Epi treated to look like denim (interesting, right?). In Bleu or Noir that’s actually more grey.

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign5Left: Another shot of the Malletage Twist, this time in the hands of actress Jennifer Connelly. Right: We all know how much of a runaway hit the Petite Malle was, so here it is for the new season in a new style. Meet the new Petite Malle Foldover that has the same front clasp as the Petite Malle but in a fluffier leather body.

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign6Left: Half-holding, half-cradling, the Petite Malle will be back this season in Epi and exotic croc. Lush. Right: Model standing on chair with Dora Souple. Random much?

louis_vuitton_ss15-womens-ad-campaign7Left: Jennifer Connelly again with the Twist Stripes. Same bag, but treated with strips of leather in different colours. Right: So beautiful she deserves her own ad, the Twist in Epi Denim leather. Love.
